A lovely review of Cruising with Destiny from writer, Lara Valentine. Thanks Lara! This reviewer's rating: 5 - Outstanding This was my first Alex Carreras book, but it won't be my last. Mr. Carreras excels at painting a picture with words. This book was set on a cruise ship and its various ports of call. It brought back very vivid memories of a cruise I took last summer. The story was good, the characters well-drawn, and the sex was hot. Nate and Steve kind of knew each other in high school. Nate was a nerd. Steve was a star jock. Steve is now just coming out of the closet. This story didn't hit you over the head with Steve's journey. Instead, it explored the feelings between the two men - their hopes and fears. I had the opportunity to interview fellow writer and friend, Lea Barrymire about her new series, Genophytes , the first in the series, Cain's Salvation releasing today. Alex : Lea, can you tell me a little about your series? Lea : My newest series follows a group of genetically engineered beings, genophytes, that not only have the above powers, but so much more. Cain and a few of his “brothers” run a security company. They specialize in retrieving ‘lost’ things, be it a human, money or weapons.  The males are emotionally challenged, designed that way to make their jobs easier, super-human soldiers. Cain’s Salvation is the first story in the series. Cain is one of the first genophytes and finds his world turned upside-down when they take on a rescue mission. Samantha Bridgestone needs their help, but he needs hers just as much. Anyway, Lea and I sat down with a few of the genophyte males to chat about their lives and what they think of Cain’s defection into mated status.

I have to admit, I have been such a slacker lately. I drove over to the east coast of Florida to visit a friend and have done hardly any writing at all. This morning I did get up to read what I recently wrote, and started to rewrite what I wrote. Tighten the prose and all of that good stuff. Man do I overuse the word that when writing....probably one of the many words I overuse or just plan use incorrectly. Thank God for editors with English degrees. Tomorrow I will have no time to write because I am going to South Beach for the day, and then to the airport to pick up another friend and her baby. Oh well. I can write when I get back this coming weekend. Plus South Beach is a great place to get my imagination flowing and my sexy mind going. Loads of inspiration on that beach. Yum.
